The Navy has started providing sailors mental health support in the early stages of deployments so they are better equipped to manage common stressors they may encounter while getting underway.
Under the Navy’s new Departure & Separation Program, sailors on six surface ships were provided access to licensed counselors and specially trained educators during their first two to six weeks of deployment.
So glad that I served back in the early 70's. Back in the days of diesel submarines and iron men. If they can't handle a deployment without counseling why did they enlist in the first place????
Sooo glad I'm retired from that shit. I had enough trouble riding herd on Old School sailors. I'd fail miserably the first time I had to deal with today's snotflakes.
Anyone do live fire and damage control exercises ( Battle E. ?? ) down at Gitmo in the summer. That was the pre-deployment concealing and weight loss program. Got to see the Iowa do a broad side.
My son got our about a year and a half ago. His ship was heading out on a goodwill tour, and he did a limited re-up for the 8 months that it would be gone, past his end date, after 6 years. 2 weeks into his deployment they wee diverted to the Arabian Gulf, to keep the Suez canal and the gulf of Oman open to ship traffic. The Iranians were trying to draw fire, resulting in an internal incident, in order to make the U.S. look bad. The Iranians would bring their ships within 100-200 yards of my sons ship, a ticonderoga class cruiser. Not sure what the distance they had to fire warning shot at the Iranians, but I believe that they did fire one round over the bow of one fast mover that the Iranians, who quickly veered away. It never hit the news, just the Navy reports, that I saw. But now, things are even worse there than they were. I have said, if they re-institute the draft, as much as I hate the idea, I would send my sons, and even though I am old, I would volunteer, but I would never allow my daughters to register, and it would fight my own government, if need be to stop such a thing. A volunteer female, to serve as an officer or a pilot, or even a repair person on tanks, aircraft and such, ok, but never as a front line soldier.
When we eventually go up against a serious military, the slaughter on our side will be enormous. It's a tradition. Except now, we have loads of poorly educated, low-intelligence people living amongst our population who don't really have any commitment to the nation. Recovering from the initial losses will be a lot less likely now.
What the fuk would these candy assed POS do if they had to set sail and not have their voyage complete for 2-4 years or longer? And I'm not talking about the days of square riggers and iron men, but as recently as WW ll.... While Russia trains their military to endure hardships and make sometimes unpleasant decisions, our is busy training our military to be Russified and walk in heels........ We're doomed as a nation. Get out now....
Jesus Christ, are the Navy personnel going to start dressing like the Village People now too?
ReplyDeleteThey have been for ages.
DeleteWe are doomed. I remember one of the hats I wore as an NCO was as a counselor for my troops. Now they gotta be licensed?
ReplyDeleteBuncha pussies. Wasn't like that in my old Navy days. Gotta suck it up buttercup.
ReplyDeleteI remember "Sailors And Dogs Keep Off he Grass'

ReplyDeleteThank the commies, 0bama & Buydin for the pussification of our armed forces.
ReplyDeleteIt started back in the Clinton days. Retired SCPO

ReplyDeleteGood grief. Back in the sixties departure day was a great event. Off to Hawaii! Off to Japan! off to Australia! Foreign babes! Indeed, we are doomed.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that the USNavy SEAL’s referred to as the Pepsi generation
