6 45 lb plates + bar (if olympic) 45 lb = 315 lbs, sure, you are a bit older then me and if you've been sitting on your ass too long it might hurt for a couple weeks but you worked in a warehouse, you can handle that, hell, I bet at 18 you could have done that for more reps then her age.
Yeah, she's strong. But A 64 year old woman outlifted me at a meet by 100 lbs. I did 425 (age 59 without a deadlift suit) She was in a suit. Got a huge bearhug from her after my lift. Took me off my feet and spun me around a bit.
Not anymore, my back would be in spasm for a year!!! Why you ask/? Because as a young man I did that stupid shit. Now I am wore out and broken. Too many high speed crashes on motorcycles, to many low speed crashes into rocks dirt riding (hell three last year one putting me in the ER), and to many time lifting shit when I should of used a handcart, lever, hoist, loader, tractor, block and tackle, winch you get the idea.
Cavguy, like a man I know from 11th Cav, lives in Wyoming, calls himself a "stove up cow puncher." Rope, throw and brand 'em takes a lot out of a man over 50+ years, I guess.
She looks to be about 5 feet tall and 100 pounds. To do the same thing I would need to do 600 pounds. Not sure I could have done that when i was lifting. Now no.
I've seen girls do a dead lift at my gym with more weights than that. I don't lift like that due to my advanced years, I just keep it reasonable and make up for it with more reps.... but one of the staff there told me that females have more lower body strength and men have more upper body strength. I would never attempt the weights that some of the gals at my gym try, but some of them are in training for events. Just last week I saw a gal who looked to be in her mid-20s, EXTREMELY shapely, squatting with a barbell on her shoulders that would probably put my knees out of commission for a good long time.
We are friends with a young couple. They are both active in our gym. She wears loose fitting clothes when out and about. She just looks like a tiny cutie pie and very shy. At the gym, holy shit! Both of them are lifting shit like that and they are tight man.
I've got a 75 year old client who recently had to cut back his lifts because he was blowing out too many blood vessels in his eyes. Now he keeps his bench press weight below 400 pounds. Tough for a man who was competing nationally until two years ago.
Don't ask her to jerk you when she's angry.

ReplyDeleteGood one. You win the webz for a week.
DeleteIs putting one hand on the bar palm forward and one palm back normal?
ReplyDeleteyup
DeleteYep it can be, depends on the lifter. It's called a mixed grip (which I happen to use).

ReplyDeleteIt's Serena Abweh; we supported her for IPF. I believe she was underage during this particular PR.
ReplyDeleteIn this video she's 19 yo, 104 lbs, deadlifting 150 kg (330 lbs)
