The Grocery Price Shock Is Coming to a Store Near You
Corn, wheat, soybeans, vegetable oils: A small handful of commodities form the backbone of much of the world’s diet and they’re dramatically more expensive, flashing alarm signals for global shopping budgets.

I went to the store today. AS I'm walking by the beef case, I'm looking at the steaks and thinking "those look good". They looked good until I saw the price per pound. There wasn't any cut, except thin sliced 7 bone chuck, under $10.00/pound, which was pretty shocking to me. I eat so much chicken, it's a wonder I'm not growing feathers.
Yep, here on the Central coast of Kate Brownshirt's state, I went to grab some stuff for the office (my personal food stash) and things are not looking good. Glad my better half is seeing it too, and stocking up. She used to think my stocking up on stuff to protect that food supply was frivolous. Not so much now. But now I can't get to any of my stuff because it has to be locked up. Yeah, effing right! The republicans in the Oregon State congress sold out to the Dems. Actually the dems bribed them into caving. I think that "We the People" should root out and eliminate any "rep" of the people who do not. Ya'll watch yer six now, Ya hear?
I'm noticing that the pet foods aisles have empty shelves, where they used to be full. From hearing other blog posts, I was guessing at insufficient meat, or meat byproducts.
Here's how to beat this: When you shop, don't be a dumbass. Stay away from impulse items. You can live nicely eating chicken and pork. I only buy beef when it's way on sale. If you have an Aldi nearby shop there. You'll save about 1/4.
Couple of days ago I was browsing in the market and noticed that my usual organic butter has increased from $5.98 to $10.98 per pound. Not concerned for now, I have maybe 20 pounds in the freezer.
At the grocery store, I stick to the perimeter, never the interior aisles. Raw produce, meat, diary. In that order. In and out in 20 minutes. Most of the time its just a few items like butter. Homemade butter is too laborious for the price. All y'all better get going on your gardens and building your tribe, if you haven't already. Its goid to include ranchers if you don't grow your own meat.
part of the getting ready for the "party" was loosing weight. carnivore/keto for a few months and down 75 lbs. cost is prob less than before with all the sugar & carb shit. some steaks, ground chuck, cheese, eggs mostly. eat one small meal at lunch and main meal maybe 3 hours later. no grazing on shit loaded with sugar all day. they sneak that shit in EVERYTHING.
I went keto over 2 years ago, and gradually migrated to straight carnivore, which as I point out to people who are interested, is still keto but without plants. I meet a lot of people who want improve their health too, by going carnivore, but complain that eating only meat is too expensive. I remind them that if they also eat OMAD, that it is actually cheaper than the SAD diet (Standard American Diet)......because by only eating once a day, they are saving money by not eating the other two meals a day that they used too.
Tim, We eat only during the 10am-2pm window to maintain ketosis.
On meat only, how do you compensate for the 'elimination' [chuckling] of plant-based fiber? . . re: grocery prices
We operate a small organic teaching farm near the outskirts of Eugene Oregon. Our costs to deliver a finished product fluctuate with fuel/fertilizer/feed costs. The notorious 'Three Fs' of farmers.
The other day I fired up the incubator and loaded it up. I wasn't thinking of this at the time, we've just been overrun with eggs lately. Now I'm wondering if all our extras shouldn't go in there. I don't much like butchering chickens but I like being hungry even less.
Maybe sugar will be cheaper than corn sweetener & be commonly used again.
ReplyDeleteThat is why I just changed my diet to liberal dark meat, govt cheese and watermelon! Endless supply of all that shit!
ReplyDeleteAlready noticing big spikes in some grocerry stores.

Long Pig is going to be real cheap soon.

ReplyDeleteI read that the rice harvest is down 10-15% in some far eastern countries. May be connected to the Grand Solar Minimum. Things could get interesting

ReplyDeleteOkay then, I'll try to remember not to be a dumbass. Thanks for the helpful tip.
ReplyDeleteYou already are.

So, I’m guessing you are taking a vitamin supplement (s) to get the vitamins and nutrients missing from a carnivore diet?
