These shelves are supported by brackets instead of posts, and the brackets are held only by their attachments to the walls. (Can't make out the details of the attachment, but either the brackets are directly screwed to the wall, or there is a back plate that holds the brackets and is screwed to the wall.) That would be fine for corn flakes, but beverages are heavy. I'm kind of surprised they even managed to get the shelves fully loaded before the wall attachments began to pull out. When the first bolt gave, that increased the load on the next one, so it went next, and they all failed in a wave.
Overloaded shelving. This is why a lot of places use medium or heavy duty shelving with all corners supported.
