When Louisiana cops yesterday found a “clear crystal like substance” inside a plastic Walmart bag in his pocket, John Combs did not, like some suspects, claim it was a laxative or sugar and corn starch to use in baking a cake.

I live near the East Coast in the UK. the coastline here retreats at a rate of a couple of metres a year. Larger seaside towns have sea defences in place, but the villages tend to have houses perched on the edge of the cliff like that. The houses were quite a way from the cliff edge when they were built.
