4 Ex-Cops Indicted on US Civil Rights Charges in Floyd Death

A federal grand jury has indicted the four former Minneapolis police officers involved in George Floyd’s arrest and death, accusing them of violating the Black man’s constitutional rights as he was restrained face-down on the pavement and gasping for air, according to indictments unsealed Friday.

  1. Is anyone still arguing that the DOJ and FBI are not out-of-control politicized storm troopers? We are now at war. Porretto had a good take on Combat Without Rules - read both parts:

    2. The more "good guys" that do that the worse the situation will get.

Which is a big problem in law enforcement. The people who want to be law officers are all too often those who do not have the right personality profile. Yet, the academies HAVE to pass enough candidates to meet their community's needs. So we get the rejects on the force by default.

  3. Given how the Chauvin case went, why wouldn't the other three cops simply leave town and disappear? I mean, they're not going to get a free trial. Usually running makes you look guilty, but in this case all the old rules are out the window.

    1. I agree, I would have bugged out as soon as Chauvin was found guilty. I would have a 1970s car, significant amount of cash, (no electronics at all). Head to Idaho, live off the grid. I know it ain't easy, but its better than a life in jail. Even tougher, join the French foreign legion, they will take anyone in, but you have to pass the training.

  7. DOJ knows the conviction most likely will be overturned, so they want to make sure he will never have any money by constantly paying lawyers.

  10. I'm pretty sure there's a certain police captain in Casablanca who is shocked, *shocked* by this development.

I'm also pretty sure he's the only person in the world who is.
