Huh, that asshole dog Jack didn't make the list

Smaller, older and male dogs are more likely to be aggressive and growl, snap and bark at humans, a study of 23 different breeds has found.

Some breeds are also more likely than others to exhibit aggressive behaviour, with Rough Collies, like Lassie, the most aggressive of all breeds.

In contrast, Labradors and Golden Retrievers, beloved for their docile temperament and gentle nature, were found by scientists to be the least aggressive breeds.

For all the trouble I had with that asshole dog Jack when I first got him, he's actually fairly docile, especially around me and Lisa. He's territorial with strangers for sure but not overly aggressive - he'll stand his ground but won't attack.

  1. My shepherd weighs 85 lbs. and he will charge a stranger like he is gonna tear them a new asshole. When he gets within a few feet, he stops, barks growls and circles. Intimidating as shit, but no bite. Has not been tested at night yet though. My female Boston terrier will jump up and bite the shit out of your ass or balls, depending on which way your facing.

    1. Let, I got stuck with my ex-wife's Chihuahua when we separated and she tends to be stand-offish around strangers will sniff them then walk away. But persist in wanting to pet her she will tear a new ankle in you. She is half tremor, half anger...Her name is Guido.

  3. one of the most bitting dogs I've ever had was a spaniel we had as kids. A neighbor saw a black guy throw her out of a car. That dog didnt like men in general and black men in particular. She came to stay with us and was sweet with us kids but very protective. She always slept in my sisters room and wouldnt even let my dad into their room to check on them. My dad was actually good with that as just prior to the dog adopting us a pervert had been caught trying to entice my 5 yr old sister into his car. She was very sweet until she turned into a tasmanian devil protecting hers.

  4. Small dogs do seem to have behavior problems.
Iv read the reason for that is time is not spent ´training´ small dogs.
    Anyone have a comment/experience¿

  5. A lot of this negative behavior comes from how these dog are raised. Iv'e shared my home with 5 Malamutes and 3 German Shepard's. While they will protect family members. Their size keeps people back.

  6. One of my Casualty Insurance classes noted that Cocker Spaniels are the breed that generates more home-owners insurance claims.

  7. Our GSD was defensive but nice once he realized you were cool. He never bit anyone.

Our GSP, on the other hand, is so gregarious we’re still trying to figure out how to train her not to lick the lips off of everyone she meets.
