We had a Rottweiler back in the 60's when there were very few in this country. I was about 3 years old and I fell off the dock at our house at Lake Wallenpaupack. The dog jumped in and pulled me to shore by the scruff of the neck. Saved my friggen life.
Now, we've got a Bassett/Boston mix and a Pitbull/Shitzu (Bullshit) mix that wouldn't lift a leg to save you. Stinking kids...

Our neighbors across the street have one that makes a beeline for our yard every time she gets out.
