No! Say it ain't so!!!

Italian supercar maker Lamborghini announced Tuesday that it will launch a fully-electric car in the second half of the decade.

Presenting a transformation program, Lamborghini, owned by German firm Volkswagen, laid out “a roadmap to the decarbonization of future Lamborghini models and of the Sant’Agata Bolognese site,” its factory headquarters in Italy.

  1. The same green goobers who champion battery-powered cars get pretty upset anytime somebody proposes to open a mine. I'm pretty sure they haven't thought this entire thing through, but I'm also sure harvesting the rare earths necessary to power their utopia will require a rather ugly rape of many landscapes.

    1. I think this 'going green' is all about transferring the liability off themselves and to some other company. Plus, cashing in on the 'carbon offsets' which fetch a pretty penny. Carbon offsets are merely wealth distribution anyway. If the corrupt politicians want to virtual signal for mother Gaia, why not companies seek to how they can capitalize on it. After all, the dirty politicians write that into the policies too.

  2. If you want a high end performance car, especially in the 0 to way to fast category, electric is the way to go. Tesla Cybertruck will probably beat most ICE vehicles in 0 to 60.

    1. Car and Driver magazine runs cars that they road test around the Grand Course at Virginia International Raceway. They publish a handy list online of every car they've done this with since 2006. The only Tesla on the list is a 2015 Tesla Model S P85D. It has exactly the same lap time as a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

If all you need to do is accelerate or tow things, electric may be the way to go. For overall high-end performance, not so much.

    2. True - my brother's top line Tesla does 0-60 in 1.9 seconds whereas the one of the fastest gasoline street cars, the 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S does it in 2.2 seconds.

The "ludicrous" mode is downright scary and dangerous if you ask me as it is silent and completely changes the rules of the road. If a Tesla driver punches it at the same moment you think it is safe to pull out, BAM's will happen and can't imagine that speed in the hands of teenagers.

  4. Ford makes an all electric F-150 now. I wonder how it would do after repeated dunkings at the boat ramp.

    1. Aye.
A piece of shit that burns gasoline is going to be changed into a piece of shit that uses electromotive force.
It's still a piece of shit.
