Over the past few months, the posts on Fridays at 8 PM have been concerts of classic rock or country. I'm not sure how many of you actually listen to the whole concert, so I'm just going to post a few songs from now on.
Another thing that's a little different about tonight's post is that it ain't classic rock or country.
Over the past year or so, I've found quite a few youngsters (to me, anyways) that are playing country or hillbilly music that's not even close to that pop country shit playing on the radio nowadays. One of them is a young lady named Sierra Ferrell out of West Virginia. She's a whiz on the guitar and has a great voice range and Nate Leahy, the guy that accompanies her on the fiddle, is pretty damned good himself.
I don't like everything she does, but the shit I do like, I really really like. Some of the stuff is her own material, but I've also heard her play Faron Young, John Prine and Flatt & Scruggs covers. Shit, I've even heard her do Dolly Parton. Nightclub jazz singing too.
Here's a sampling of her music.
And yes, I'm aware she has tattoos and ohmigod, a nose ring in the last video. If that bothers you, try closing your eyes and listening to her music.
