    1. You ought to look up videos of the ballast tamping machines they have.

Crazy. But that's what you get when employees are expensive and machines not so much.

  2. Cool and a strong message about thinking human workers are not replaceable.........

  3. Saw that machine at work awhile back. It is followed by another hopper type rail car that vibrates the rock in between the ties. Really interesting to watch.

  4. Quite the rail layer. And they say it will take billions to lay a high speed track

  6. We don't need any stinking human labor. With A.I. we won't need not design engineers either.

  8. Why peeple did that. It would be a hoot if the Dutch invented it.

  9. I have a book "The Men Who Built the Transcontinental Railroad 1863 - 1869".
    Times surely have changed.

    1. 'Nothing Like It in the World: The Men Who Built The Transcontinental Railroad 1863-1869' by Stephen Ambrose. Is that the book?

Ten miles of track laid in one day by four Irishmen. And the accomplishments of the Chinese drillers and blasters was also incredible.

    2. Most of that quickly-laid track had to be rebuilt within a few years. So, yeah, 4 guys may have laid the initial track, but it took a full gang to fix their mess.

Remember, the train companies were getting 'free' land from the government based on how much track they laid. That's why, at the end, both lines shoot north until the Government called them on it.

  10. Well wtf are all of Beijing Biden's border monkeys going to do now?!?! There's only so many roofs that need shingles!

  11. Looks like quite a bit of maintenance needed to keep that expensive machine in tune.
Not to mention a skilled operator or three.
