A buddy of mine was an MP on the DMZ in 1976 during the Korean Axe Murder incident and subsequent "Operation Paul Bunyan". He was about 19 and he say's to this day that he was sure he was going to die. He hasn't forgotten.
Many don't remember that the cease fire that stopped the war almost collapsed in 76.
I can also tell you that I was over there working with the ROK Navy back in the 90's and they also have not forgotten the American contribution to their freedom.
