In a newly proposed regulation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, most owners will have to pay a $200 tax per weapon or radically change it or turn the gun in to be destroyed.
And because ATF said it doesn’t expect anyone to give up their guns, the money would roll in if the rule is adopted.

I'm gonna leave it at that.
It's hard to get a straight answer from google search. Do both houses of Congress have to approve ATF recommendations, or does the bureau make its own rules?
ReplyDeleteI'm going with unconstitutional. An Enumerated Right cannot be taxed (in theory). But that has never stopped a Dem.
ReplyDelete1) Pay the tax
ReplyDelete2) Turn them in
3) Hmmm, seems like there might be a third option.

Damn dude. Hit the publish button once, and only once.
DeleteThere should be a brisk trade in 16" and longer barrels/uppers about now.
ReplyDelete"What pistol, Mr. ATF-U man?"
Stash your shorty for saner times.
I'll be glad to turn mine in! One round at a time...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget your lefty neighbors.
ReplyDeleteThey'll feel much more insecure when they know you no longer have guns to keep THEIR neighborhood safe from criminals.
Lefty neighbors/family is the exact type of criminal that needs to be removed to keep ALL neighborhoods safe!

Does this mean I'll have to hand in my .22 bARetta?
ReplyDeleteKnock knock, good morning sir we would like to see your

Any more questions kids? Hips n Heads. Bert.
Don’t forget kids. Pigs wear armor.

Or knees and necks if the aforementioned aren't present...
DeleteI got the impression your scenario has us facing them, face-to-face, interview-style, then escalating in the hope of out-quickdrawing them?

An alternative might be to drop-by their home/office/church/school as a friendly reminder of the benefits of working within the community.
After enough folk stop for a friendly chat in the grocery or at the gas-pump, they might notice the numbers are not favoring them.
Think we got it CT Ginger. Sir, step away from the keyboard!
ReplyDeleteUppers have no SN. Lowers can be used as SBR, Pistol with brace or normal rifle. Unless the two halves come together you just have a lower and an upper. Yep if they do go crazy, stash the upper. They have no idea how many short barreled uppers are out there. The lower without an upper is nothing. Pandora's box is open and it will never be closed.
ReplyDelete“” The Biden administration’s new push to regulate highly popular AR-style pistols could net Uncle Sam billions to Pilfer AND Redirect””
ReplyDeleteAnd THATS what its all about!
$$$$$$$$$
It has Zero to do with safety
Since the pistol brace/shockwave inception The Gov, has lost 100’s of Millions. And thats using ATF’s own gun numbers X 200$
I have been spewing this for 3 yrs now. Very few listen seriously.
And that, didnt surprise me at all. Sadly.
Not really. That implies that everyone who currently owns a braced pistol(s) would have, in the absence of these braces, made/registered an SBR. A large percentage of that group would have either not bothered to register, or not had anything other than buffer tubes on them, or not owned anything other than 16in. I doubt that’s the case. More likely would be there would be a hell of a lot less sub 16 in ARs in circulation, which is likely what will happen going forward if all that comes to pass.
DeleteEither way those brace companies are fucked. No one is going to bother buying one of those if it’s now an SBR anyways. As someone who owns both SBRs and pistols, I much prefer a stock and would not buy a pistol brace to put in something I gotta stamp anyways.
Gator
Buy your guns in FL. No registry.
ReplyDeleteLots of states don't have a registry but every FFL in the country processes 4473s and they are forever, regardless what .gov says.
DeleteMy gun the number of tragic covered wagon accidentally turning over when crossing the river and dumping all of these now illegal guns as they were being shipped to the ATF for proper care is mind mining.
ReplyDeleteNo. I will not comply. Not with this “rule.” Not with the next law. That’s how we win, mass disobedience. What are they gonna do, go door to door? They’ll learn quick that’s not viable.
ReplyDeleteThe irony is, this coming from an agency that does NOT follow their own rules, recall operation Fast and Furious.
ReplyDeleteHow dare you besmirch the reputations of fine public servants like Hope MacAllister.

Delinquent taxes can simply be seized from any bank account, etc. They just check 4473s and inform you that you owe the tax. Don't pay? No problem, they impose some fees and penalties and take the money from you anyway. Gummints don't fuck around when it comes to gettin' paid.
Bullshit. A retroactive tax on something you may not even own anymore? Not everybody lives in a State where all gun sales have to go through an FFL and filling out a 4473.
DeleteI can't recall how many uppers and 80%lowers I've bought seperately over the years. Suffice to say, plenty. Good luck collecting taxes on those by the way! OG
