Your Friday Afternoon Florida Report

A Florida police officer was shot in the head while escorting a man out of a car — sparking a frantic manhunt and putting an entire county on lockdown, authorities said.

The 26-year-old officer, who was not immediately identified, was shot late Wednesday in Daytona Beach while conducting a “proactive patrol,” where he encountered Othal Wallace, 29, sitting in a 2016 Honda with California tags.

  1. So, the cop rousted the guy for sitting in his car while black and got shot for his trouble.

    1. Deep in the 'hood. Dope-dealing and gang shootings/killings damned near every night. The decent residents asked for more of and a more active police presence.

      Go fuck yourself.

  2. Funny you should say that when califonia tags in florida is a violation of either californias lockdown law nonsense or potentially floridas insurance laws. Asking the driver about it should be common practice. Especially since the local cop likely has a harder time running california plates.

    1. Not sure what California lock down law you're talking about. I live in California and have driven as far as Pennsylvania and places in between without trouble from anybody. But then, I drive while white.

    2. How is what you wrote relevant to anything ?
What lock down law ? Did the Ca legislation write and pass a law concerning lockdowns ?
What about Florida's insurance laws, is it illegal to drive your car from another state in Fla ? If someone from say Alabama drives his car to Destin for the weekend is he some how violating a law ?
I'm no legal expert but it seems many decades ago states did a mutual agreement to accept each other's drivers license, car registration and insurance, has this changed and we didn't hear about it ?
Has our constitution been legally repealed ?

  3. Coward according to the chief, whole county locked down by god. What a bunch of bullshit, let's tell the story according to a non cop perspective, guy from out of town was taking a nap in his car when cop comes along and decides to fuck with him. So being a dick cop not only is he going to bother the guy but remove him from his property and of course the " for MY protection " pat down of the guy he decided to fuck with. Now there's at least 2 ways to see this, and
1 is cop was just doing his job of aggressive policing or
2 cop was abusing his power of authority,
Odds are if he wouldn't have fucked with the guy he wouldn't have gotten shot so I blame the cop.... People are getting tired of thier bullshit
Now of course that thin blue line will hunt down and probably kill that guy, something they will never do for you or me. Funny how that goes huh

    1. "Coward" is a synonym of "Anonymous". And for the record, the black dude who shot the cop might have killed someone else if he hadn't been rousted. I'm getting really tired of the ">>>>>(insert the action here) while Black. We live in a country where 3% of the population commit 70% of the murders.

    2. Hey WCDep, go blow that lukewarm air from your ass somewhere else. ..In this fucking country we are assumed innocent until proven guilty not because you are scared of what might happen.
So go away boy, men are talking

    3. Hey anonymous, you gutless know-nothing fuckwit, go fuck yourself. I live just North of Daytona Beach and know the area this happened in well. It's deep in the hood with rampant street drug-dealing and gang activity/ shootings/killings damned near every night. The decent people who live in the area asked for more of a police presence and a more proactive approach to anything remotely suspicious.

So, no, it wasn't just "guy from out of town was taking a nap in his car", it was "guy who looks hinky hanging out in a parking lot late at night". It also wasn't a pat down "for my protection". The cop walked up and asked the man if he lived in the neighborhood. The guy asked why the cop wanted to know, opened the door, and stood up out of the car. The cop was being very cool, said, "I'm just checking", and said "Easy, now. Just sit back down", at least twice. Then the motherfucker started to struggle and shot him in the head.

So go fuck yourself, you know-nothing sack of shit.

  5. Florida vehicle registration and insurance laws apply to Florida residents.
US laws and court cases have determined how "resident of a State" is defined and established.
Look at the number of snowbirds in Florida for the winter each year.
Here, more info is needed. The "news" report was not clear as to who shot the cop, nor as to the area in which this happened, nor whether the cop may have had reason to make a "Terry" stop, which is allowed by SCt order to establish the identity of suspicious persons under some circumstances. (I am not your law professor. Look it up.)
Like most "news" stories, there is only enough information here to push an emotional response.
    Think, then act. Don't react.

    1. I haven't the faintest fucking idea what you're on about with that shit about registration and insurance and snowbirds. It has fuck all to do with this incident.

Find better news reports. The cop didn't stop the guy, he was sitting in his car in a darkened parking lot in a known street drug-dealing area deep in the 'hood. The cop never got a chance to ask for license, registration, or anything else, as soon as he walked up and spoke the guy opened his car door and stood up out of the car. The cop was being very cool and calm, told him a couple of times to take it easy and sit back down, the guy struggled and then shot the cop. It's all on the cop's bodycam, if you can be arsed to look for news reports that contain it or, say, maybe even on Youtube.
