WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A judge has rejected the “stand your ground” defense of a Florida man who said he beat an iguana to death only after it attacked him, biting him on the arm.
PJ Nilaja Patterson, 43, must stand trial on a felony animal cruelty charge, Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Jeffrey Dana Gillen ruled recently in denying the unusual defense, the South Florida SunSentinel reported.
So, is the judge trying to set a precedent so that when humans are attacked by other semi human animals, Floridians won't be able to use the stand your ground defense?
Well i for one am ashamed of you commenters, if he had only hit it 1 to 3 times i would say your right but videoed for 30 minutes beating and kicking it is just that animal cruelty and he should do time, this is no different than if it was a dog!!!! grayman
