California Oil Regulators Deny New Fracking Permits

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California denied 21 oil drilling permits this week in the latest move toward ending fracking in a state that makes millions from the petroleum industry but is seeing widespread drought and more dangerous fire seasons linked to climate change.

State Oil and Gas Supervisor Uduak-Joe Ntuk sent letters Thursday to Aera Energy denying permits to drill using hydraulic fracturing in two Kern County oil fields to “protect “public health and safety and environmental quality, including (the) reduction and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.”

  3. Not just Kali....though they are leading the charge. The commie demonrats in cahoots with the insane "environmentalists" want us ALL TO STOP USING ICE vehicles...They have different reasons but they both want us ALL to be TOTALLY dependent on Public Transport. And destroying the oil industry to make fuel availability a major problemm is just ONE part of that strategy. If "we the people" don't step up and start exterminating these vermin SOON there won't be much of a country left.

  4. I'm beginning to worry that the next Lib-bot that utters the words "Climate Change" I'm going to punch them right in the face.
We need more carbon, not less.

  5. The kicker was a week or so ago when the state advised people to NOT charge their electric vehicles during the heat wave.

  6. Fracking = bad 🤣
A little insider secret here: large, high volume water wells for community use are often hydraulic fractured to improve reliability. There is ZERO evidence that fracking does the evil things that people claim.

  7. You can argue with science but government meddling has established precedence over rational thought - but only if it is in accord with our suicide policies. Of course if it does not agree with our agenda, it is evil anti science. Shut up they explained.

  8. It's not about saving the planet. It's all about control and the fucking, low-esteem, bean-counting bureaucrats feed on shoving it up the peasant's asses to boost their power high.

NO! It's choosing to Not manage the forests. Yeah, the climate Is changing, just as it has since the beginning, And the effects of drought are being exacerbated by intentional mismanagement of water resources.

  11. Sad. California used to be a high tech manufacturing powerhouse and home to some of the most innovative companies in electronics bar none. They have voted themselves into this dead end and do not appear to be able to make rational decisions any longer.

One of the best arguments for a federal system of independent states making up the country is that each state could experiment with what works best for them. Sadly, some do not choose wisely.

The danger is that our overbearing central bureaucracy is going to attempt mandate that all sound states bail out the failed experiments. This cannot stand, each must either succeed or fail and resolve their issues internally or they will sink the entire lot. Again, sadly, this seems to be the goal of certain people and organizations - to sink the whole.

  12. Fracking fluid is nasty stuff. The drillers don't even have to tell you what's in it; it can be treated as a trade secret. But it goes into our ground water. It's only a matter of time until it spreads into the aquifers.

As far as "clean fracking" for community water wells goes, you wouldn't want to use anything toxic in the process.

We need to conserve what ground water we have left because it's essentially a non-renewable resource. In this case, I am fine with putting "conserve" back into "conservative."

I will take my beating(s) in the forthcoming comments :-) – Joely

  13. Fracking Democraps are destroying this country’s energy supply. High GNP and availability of cheap energy go hand in hand.

  14. F'n reporters. Straight to the drought and fires "linked to climate change," and that's why there will be no more drilling.

  15. Some time ago, a bunch of nuts founded a group called the Voluntary Human Extinction Project. The idea that it would stay "voluntary" for long was pretty laughable.
