Being a brilliant musician doesn't necessarily mean that you can make a living out of playing music. In the UK there is an ELP tribute band called Noddy's Puncture. Superb musicians but their band is just a hobby as far as I'm aware, they all do day jobs to pay the bills.
Billy Redden has a pretty interesting Wikipedia page. It mentions the fact that he works at Walmart and explains why he's not making a living playing banjo.
Assuming Wikipedia is accurate is kinda like assuming a prostitute is a vestal virgin. It may be true, but is also highly suspect. One of the wikipedia co-founders recently make a public announcement that the site's editors are highly woke leftist statist progressive activists. They edit to their narrative rather than the truth
[ sigh ] Quoting wikipedia. I trust my dogs around unattended beef jerky more than I would ever believe that mess of rumors and allegations. . PS: 'My friend' has a fun hobby -- editing wikipedia entries, then watching the karens scrambling to make it all better again.
Thank you for that. He doesn't deserve derision for his role in the movie or for his place in life. He's minding his own damned business, unlike many who should be.
Helped completely ruin my first date with a guy I'd had a crush on for years. We both were too horrified to even go for coffee after it. We just shook hands and went back to our respective homes. Billy was the very best part of that movie though.
As Amahl says - all work is noble and essential for someone. Why is it noble you ask? For the simple reason it give a person self satisfaction and worthiness by performing a useful service for themselves as well as for someone else. Work is a win for all parties, everyone wins. Being a leech (non worker) on the other hand, is a no win for all concerned. Unless of course, you consider yourself fertilizer.
I thot he went to the White House...

Why play the banjo for peanute when you can be the Biden body double for a 6 figure payout?
ReplyDeleteGod Bless him. Sometimes you can just see a good soul. =)

Earning not taking.

Cast as a banjo player yet couldn't play the banjo. He missed his call, should have been a politician.

Well, he was a movie star once upon a time. That's more than I can say about myself.
ReplyDeleteIt appears he survived the ordeal in good order. Good on him.

ReplyDeleteI contend that all work is noble. A man or woman who can earn their own keep is better than a thousand parasites who leech off the labor of others.

ReplyDeleteSo they build that lake and opened a Walmart next to bait shop. I' m impressed. Wonder why he didn't get a job in his twin brother's cabinet.
