  4. Wow. That guy owes his life to camera guy. What happened to the guy that ran into him is a mystery I guess.

  5. Nice save, but it was only necessary because of their stupidity.

  6. So one guy was unconscious and the photographer had to pull his ripcord for him? Wow. Hopefully he came too before landing or that might have been a rough landing.

    1. True, but a lot better one than if his chute was not opened for him.

  8. Mid-90's at a jump school located between Salem and Portland, OR. My first jump. I decide to do a tandem and pay for another guy to film. We're in the plane at about 10,000 feet. The instructor has me do a final equipment check on him, I do him. He turns around to check the camera guy and the camera guy to check him. I don't see that part, I'm already facing the door. The instructor buckles us together, I open the door, we step out on to the foot pad, grab the wing strut and push off. Seconds into the free-fall I realize there's no camera guy. We land and I ask the instructor, Where's, John? Instructor tells me he never left the plane. When they did the final checks they discovered John had gotten into the plane with no chute on. John was an ex-Army Ranger, Viet Nam vet with over 7000 jumps.

    1. I think maybe john lied about his service, you do not hop on a plane to do a jump film and forget your chute! 7000 jumps i do not think so!!!grayman

  9. Almost had that happen. Had a guy try to dock with our formation, and crashed through it. Fortunately we all had helmets and managed to escape injury. No one had an Automatic Activation device, either.

This guy owes a lifetime of beers to his buddy... and a kick in the ass to the other guy.

    1. Me too, hjets. The number of bad things that can happen outnumber the good things. Don't mention statistics, because the people who made depressions in the ground were told the statistics, too.

  11. I worked with a guy who had a chute fail to open and landed flat on his back on the runway. Should have died but survived with multiple injuries. Died about 15 years later about 2 blocks from his home when a car hit him and his motorcycle.
