Your Tuesday Morning Florida Report

CLEARWATER, Fla. – A beautiful beach day in Florida can quickly go south when storms strike out of nowhere, which is exactly what happened Wednesday in Clearwater.

The Clearwater Police Department posted a set of pictures to its Facebook page showing lightning striking again and again near the sand and water. In one shot, the strike was so close it could be seen reflected in a puddle on the sand near chairs where beachgoers would normally be lounging.

  1. Ya know and oddly in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on Maui I rarely if ever saw lightning. I saw a couple flashes of heat lightning and rarely, if ever, heard thunder. The worse thing on the beaches was strong wind sand blasting you. Or a run away beach umbrella. The sand blasting will tear yo ass up and beach umbrellas sounds funny, it aint. Been a lot of people hurt bad by them.

  2. Sitting in Okinawa right now. Tropical storm 09W, In-Fa, is about 200 miles south. The US military is acting like it’s a cat 5. Shut everything down. How the hell did we get this pussified? Max gusts of 65 knots. These fuckers should drive through Cajon pass on a bad day. I’ve been going 75 mph and been passed by a tumble weed. Eod1sg Ret

  3. I’m stuck in a hotel room again and drinking, so I’ll make another useless comment. It’s dark here. Knew an SFC who worked for range control at Camp Grayling, MI. Got struck while in a range shack on the radio. Blew the heels off his boots and feet. Fucked him up. Went to see him in the hospital. Slowed him down quite a bit, but at least he’s alive.
