The transgender man initiated the dispute seemingly because the store owner has a sign inside his store that reportedly says “If you’re born with a dick, you’re not a chick.”
The transgender man insisted he is a woman, by repeating “transgender women are women.” He also called the store owner a bigot, and said, “I’m living my life the way I want to live it.”
The store owner, apparently Don Sucher, took down the sign out of good manners when the man arrived but refused to surrender his argument.
The sign says "If you’re born with a dick, you’re not a chick,” said the store owner, adding “nine out of ten customers come in and they are on my side of this.”

ReplyDeleteThese kinds of issues are NOT decided by politicians or legislation. Beyond just establishing that someone is a human and thereby equal in our country, this stuff is cultural. We think they're supposed to regulate our economy and our "morality"... and a president can order all cars to be electric by 2030... because we are learning things backwards these days.
We don't get it in school, so we pick it up from the media.
You know, it used to be illegal for men to run around in drag, outside of private parties and entertainment purposes, because of things like access to women's rooms and tricking drunk young men. It wasn't very heavily enforced, but it could add a lot to one's sentence if one was busted for soliciting, etc. And those concerns are still righteous, but ignored in favor of the circus we see now.
Maybe the endocrine disruptors have made it so difficult for young people to square our society with their urges people have decided it's better to incorporate their urges rather than halt the endocrine disruption, but... well... I think the lion's share of blame for this goes to letting our schools go so far down the drain over the last century. People no longer seem to understand that WE are the ones supposed to be running things, precisely to prevent public servants from turning into tyrants.
This is where these things are supposed to be handled, and we note that it never came to physical violence, which is how we want to deal with each other in all but the very most dire circumstances.
I believe that a person who wants to identify as female has that right. But in the same way that Facebook as a private business has the right to decide how they want to run their business and what they allow, any other private business should also be able to run their business the way that they see fit, whether that means baking a cake or posting signs that align with their religious beliefs.
ReplyDeleteMyself, I have come to believe that there may be some people who actually do have internal struggles with self identity, and gender issues. And for me, I choose to let them decide for themselves what gender they feel fits their mentality. I do not think that society must let transgender people compete in athletic games in the gender other than that which was assigned at birth.
By taking the sign down, the business owner did the right thing, Biblically, to avoid offending the person, while still not changing his stance on what he thought was wrong behavior.
The left often wants conservatives to change their behavior, without realizing that they have similar things that they also would have to change as well. For example, forcing everyone to get the Covid 19 vaccine, while not at the same time acknowledging that it is just like saying my body, my choice, as they apply it to abortion. It would seem that things would go much more smoothly if the people of America would merely stay out of everyone else's business, and let each other do what they find best for themselves and their own, and do the same for themselves. I suspect that it has not been like that since immediately after the signing of the founding documents of this nation, as the desire to force others to think like ourselves seems to go along with being human.

That's the difference between a person whose worldview is reality-based, versus someone whose worldview is not. The facts-evidence based person, when confronted with something that does not match his mental map of reality, changes his map - his view of the world - to fit the evidence. The ideologue, those who are the "true believers," however, do not do this. When they are confronted with such a situation, they state that it is not their mental map of the world or their beliefs which are wrong, it is reality itself which is in error.
This sort of fanaticism can be extremely tough to penetrate and destroy, for the layers upon layers of denial, lies and evasions present a formidable barrier. The most-dedicated Nazis surrounding Hitler continued to cling to their ideology until Hitler and Eva Braun had committed suicide and Berlin lay in ruins around them, and even then, some chose suicide instead of alteration of their beliefs.
Unfortunately, the guuurlyman has activated the leftist scumbag Antifa, so the old geezer probably won't have a store in the next few days.
