She checked a bag with a $158,000 worth of jewelry in it...

Traveling with $158,000 worth of anything is a risky endeavor. Rose Cohen found out just how risky when all her high-value jewelry went missing during her recent JetBlue flight.

She believes an organized crime ring targeted her, ultimately forcing her to gate-check the bag that contained the jewelry. Her theory? This move allowed the thieves to help themselves to her gems before the flight even took off.

  2. I’m not going to pile-on with an obvious comment; I’ll leave that to others. That said, if Rose thinks the cops are going to canvass local pawn shops, she has been watching too many episodes of Dragnet. Sorry for your loss, Rose.

  3. I have doubts that she actually had that much jewelry in the first place if any at all. If she really could afford $158K in bling then why take a bargain basement carrier like Jet Blue? I'd be riding first class with someone else. A Rose by that name smells a bit fishy......

    1. My suspicions exactly. A friend of mine reserves biz jet time through Net Jets which costs him about $14,000 a year as an entry level fee and flies private everywhere he goes. Business Jet travel through these kinds of programs is for the moderately well off these days, not just the rich. Nothing wrong with a lower end carrier like Jet Blue which gets you from point A to point B. I just think this story doesn't add up.

    2. Her next version of the story will show it was actually $6,000,000 of jewelry, less the diamond ring she swallowed so it wouldn't be confiscated by TSA...

  4. Piling on perhaps, but why on earth the need to travel with that much jewelry? Bank safe deposit boxes aren't good enough?

  5. Call me a nasty suspicious untrusting person but if I were the cops the first thing I'd check is the background of this lady that claims to have had all this jewelry in a carry on bag that nobody else has seen. Sounds like attention seeking BS to me.

  8. Rose is once again proven to be a fool. If she had to work for the money to buy them jewels she would of taken a different approach in protecting her investment. Buy like most Wimenz, well you get the idea.

Easy come easy go!!!! Honey I need more stuff!!!!

The story itself sounds like a scam. There's nothing about any Rose Cohen* AND JetBlue in the "regular news". This looks a bunch of assholes who make their living catering to the paranoia of a certain kind of South Florida dwellers.

      From the linked story:
"my neighbor told me that her sister just returned from Arizona on JetBlue, and they stole a $700 pair of Chanel shoes from her. She didn’t even bother filing a complaint."

"Well, dahling, you know how the common people are always stealing from us. But we bear up bravely and don't even complain about losing a $700 pair of shoes."

*Rose Cohen: the only Rose Cohen I can find is a (now-dead) founding member of the Communist Party of Britain. Her bio is as one might expect.
