"Covid didn't work, send in the Nipah!"

A 12-year-old boy has died in India of Nipah, a rare virus that is far deadlier than COVID-19 — and one that health officials have long feared could start a global pandemic.

The unidentified boy died Sunday at a hospital in Kerala, the southern state already battling the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the hard-hit country, officials there said.

  1. We should let his entire family enter the USA untested and unvetted. Give em free shit. It's so important we protect and serve the world and fuck the Americans.

  2. So what, did they cry ebola one too many times without it actually turning into a global pandemic, so that had to find some other disease to use?

    1. Ebola's hell on wheels, but it's not infectious enough to really bring the fear. At best if you're infected your are only going to infect 2 other people (the R0 is between 1.3 and 1.8ish). So for Ebola.....hilariously enough it really would be 15 days to stop the spread.

Don't think Nipah is going to be the breakout either, it doesn't spread well (R0 of 0.43) so it takes between 2-3 infected people to generate a new infection. It does have scary symptoms though so it's an easy fear pump until the new variant rolls out.
