A roller coaster in Japan known for its “super death” acceleration to triple-digit speeds was reportedly shut down after riders suffered serious bone fractures.
Multiple news agencies reported four cases of fractures in the back or neck linked to the Do-Dodonpa coaster at Fuji-Q Highland Park. Vice reported at least six cases of fractures in total, including four in the back or neck.
I remain dismayed that the engineers haven't yet used humans as Pachinko balls. Alternatively, invented a ride which features a launch upward, off the tracks, then downward to precisely intercept the tracks. Given that culture, there would be thousands who would flock to such a ride. 20,000 Yen/pax and a waiver.
Carrier catapult 0 to 170 in 2 seconds. First chute jump is a thrill. but the biggest thrill I ever had was an afterburner dive in an F-14. I sold my motorcycle after that because like BB use to sing, "the thrill is gone, the thrill is gone away".
Kind of surprised they just didn't go whole hog and build one of these for disgraced corporate executives to use as it seems seppuku has fallen out of favor. On second thought, maybe we need to build one and give everyone in DC a free ticket to ride.
I don't do those rides period. Why get on something that spins you around in circles and makes you puke? Never made sense to me.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad none of mine were serious.
And they Only had to have four Serious cases, and two more that were not so serious.. Before they decided to shut it down.

ReplyDeleteThey willfully got onto a ride known to accelerate to 112 mph in 1.6 seconds. I say let them fry.
