Michigan State Rep Found With Handcuffs Key After Arrest For Violating His Bond
Michigan state Rep. Jewell Jones is facing an array of criminal charges, including two new serious felonies after he was found in possession of a handcuff key after he was arrested. There is little basis for much sympathy for Jones who has shown little regard for the criminal code in his past conduct. However, I have a serious concern over the new charges brought down after the key discovery.

I win. Bet my wife he was a chimp.
ReplyDeleteI carry a key as well.
ReplyDeleteHis problem is he had it inside the jail
From some of the comments at the link, it seems that they consider this POS a choirboy. Must be due to the fact that he is a Whitless supporting Democrat.
ReplyDeleteConsidering a handcuff key a weapon, if that is what they are doing, is certainly a very huge stretch, and should not be allowed. But civilian carry of a handcuff key should not be illegal. There are instances of kidnapping where handcuffs are used, and a concealed key just might be used to save oneself. If arrested by a cop, then perhaps then must reveal the hidden key, to avoid a charge of intent to escape or evade arrest, or such, but mere possession does not seem criminal to me.

DeleteWell, you say that....
- The cops and the courts
The new charges based on the key are BS. I'm glad I don't still live around Detroit and don't have to listen to the "its rassis" and "Whitey jus tryin to keep a brother down"
ReplyDeleteI am originally from Hesperia, a very small village 12 miles from Fremont. I live in Muskegon now. I last visited Detroit back in around 2014, to see a Tigers game with my oldest son, as my birthday present. I had taken my dad and 2 of my brothers to see one of the last games at the old Tiger Stadium, a place that my dad always took the 4 brothers to a twi-night double header every summer during his two week vacation from the foundry that he worked at.
DeleteBefore the trip with my son, I had taken my two oldest kids, back in around 1991. Still in Tigers Stadium, we parked about 3 blocks away, and walked the way in, chatting along the way, with the many people standing on the street, most of them black of course, male and female, and some with kids. Just as if I were walking here in Muskegon when I first moved here back in 1992. The wished me and my kids a good game, and to have fun, etc. Never felt fear, or animosity due to our race or theirs, only people going about their day.
Coming back, while I don't remember the team that Detroit played, I do remember that they won, and so the mood was upbeat, the other people walking along were in a good mood, some rowdy and drunk, of course, but I had my son on my shoulders, and my daughters hand in mine, etc. And the people on the way back were just the same, decent family people, kind, happy, some having a picnic, a few drinking a few beers with friends, their kids swimming in a blow up pool, etc. I never felt concerned for myself or my kids safety.
I couldn't say the same thing when I went with my son to Comerica Park the last time. We parked in a guarded lot, around 3 blocks away, and I have never seen so many homeless, drug addicted people in my entire life. As I mentioned, I am from a sheltered area, never living in a very large city, but we have our share of drug addicts and murders here, as well as homeless. But nothing compared to Detroit.
Detroit was at once a vibrant city, with good jobs, although always run by the Democrats, but now it is, sad to say, a shit hole, and getting no better.
The state of Michigan and the Democrats used to gerrymander in order to level the playing field in favor of the Democrats, of course. Until the Republicans took control and started to do that for Republicans. So the Democrats forced the state to make up a commission composed of equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans, and Independents to redraw districts, supposedly to make things fair to all. From what I have seen so far, it has happened about as much as expected. The main problem is that the area in the South East of Michigan, aka Detroit, has such a disproportionate amount of the states population, as was shown during the presidential election, when somehow they came up with the votes at the last minute to flip the state from Trump to that shell who now occupies the White House, and continues to make the United States a laughing stock.
I am still proud to be an American. I don't think that I can say the same about being from Michigan much longer, unless we get rid of idiots who keep doing things as if they are competing with California for the dumbest place in the Northern Hemisphere.
Technically, wouldn't it only be a crime if he's caught using it to escape?
