Oklahoma to ease overcrowding on Death Row

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Execution dates have been set for seven death row inmates, after Oklahoma put capitol punishment on pause for six years.

The Department of Corrections said it will be using the same three-drug cocktail used before the executions were put on hold. So far, no word how the protocol will be different this time.

    1. If the names Channon Gail Christian and Christopher Newsom don't ring a bell, look them up. Davidson will die a lot faster and easier than he deserves.

    2. We lived in Maryville at the time so I'm well aware of that crime. I don't believe in hate crimes but if there ever was one that was it. George Floyd, ha!

Cocaine, heroin, and fenadryl. Might as well send 'em out happy, and it's gotta be cheaper than pharmaceutical stuff.

  3. I don't understand why they don't just put a SCBA mask on them and hook it up to a nitrogen cylinder instead of air. One or two deep breaths and they pass out, another minute and they're dead. One cylinder should hold enough nitrogen to kill dozens of inmates. And you can re-use the SCBA mask. Cheap, humane (more so than they deserve), and readily available from any industrial supply company.

    1. How about the same shit they use to put dogs to sleep? Fast, and under a hundred bucks a pop.

    2. Nitrogen poisoning is cruel and unusual.

      Shooting or hanging isn't though.

The problem is that the companies that make anesthesia and lethal drugs that could solve these problems won't sell them to the state for the purpose of lethal injection.

  5. Acute lead poisoning would work.

    1. The 8th Amendment bars giving them what they deserve intentionally. BUT decades on death row while lawyers and courts wrangle, with a dozen last minute reprieves, might be worse punishment than anyone deserves.

OTOH, there's nothing wrong with the Chinese approach of one heavy-caliber pistol bullet to the back of the skull, except it needs an executioner with a slight bit of shooting skill and a little knowledge of the anatomy of the target area. Unlike in China, our executioners may get out of practice from one ceremony to the next. If they can't even maintain that slight level of skill, I have a novel idea. Get a cheap motorcycle helmet, rip out the lining, and spread a little C4 instead. Strap the guest of honor to a chair, put on the helmet, insert a detonator, unreel the cord to a safe distance, and set it off. No one can claim that his CNS had time to feel pain. There will be a mess to clean up, so I suggest doing this on a large patch of pavement that can be hosed off.

    2. Thanks for that illustrative KODAK mental picture; bright moment in an otherwise normal day.

  7. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot. .22LR is freaking cheap even now. Sudden Onset Lead Poisoning is neither cruel or unusual.

    1. Won't work, saw on national news this morning that bytheir numbers, everyone in the FUSA has tested positive.
But, I'll give you a C+ for the effort.

  10. Like Ron White said about Texas and the HOV lane. We have an express lane as well when the drugs are available.

  11. There are assisted suicide clinics in Switzerland that administer a drug cocktail that end your life supposedly painlessly. Use those drugs if the lawyers get too annoying. Otherwise, a bullet works just fine.
