Sources say Beto plans Texas comeback in governor’s race

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke is preparing to run for governor of Texas in 2022, with an announcement expected later this year, Texas political operatives tell Axios.

Why it matters: O'Rourke's entry would give Democrats a high-profile candidate with a national fundraising network to challenge Republican Gov. Greg Abbott — and give O’Rourke, a former three-term congressman from El Paso and 2020 presidential candidate and voting rights activist, a path to a political comeback.

  1. I guess Beatoff O'Rourke is really a Haitian name and not Costa Rican, who knew?

    1. But "they" won't. That's been the problem since about 1865.

  7. Just don't see Abbott holding off Alan West in the primary, but if he does the democrats definitely have a chance...whole lot of us give zero fucks about Abbott.

  8. The new abortion bill will be a rallying cry for Backwards Beto and his sycophants. It's possible that he'll win on that single issue. I don't think he'll try the gun control chant this time, it cost him too many votes last time and the upswing in firearms ownership will make it an even harder sell now.

  10. Why do you link to these sites?
Those assholes are still claiming that a border patrol officer was beating Haitians with a whip. It was the reins of his horse and the video shows he wasn't beating anyone. Lying scum.

    1. Because if I linked only to Right Wing News sites, you'd get maybe 3 posts a day.
Better question: Why do you comment about something that's not even in the article I linked?

    2. Because it points out the bias inherent in leftist sites; which might not be apparent if a reader didn't scroll down to the other "news".

    3. There is no bias in that story except the word election. It should say steal the gov position. Son moved to Austin 3 years ago. It makes you sick seeing all the bedo bumper stickers driving south of Dallas in the effing left lane at speed limit. Use to in Texas slow drivers move to the shoulder to let you pass on 2 lanes.

  11. I used to have a little faith in gummint, emphasis on "Little", then entered Uncle Sams Misguided Children service way back in 66 & spent from 67-70 at the university of S E Asia, Danang branch where I learned that not a little of what gumming says was an outright lie, but everything out of their pie holes was a lie. Every 2 years as the election cycle comes around only reinforces that proven fact.
