If you judge a city’s heart by how much they’re willing to go the extra mile even for its non-human citizens, Arlington in Texas recently proved that things really are bigger in the Lone Star State.
When Zoey, a 15-year-old deaf Lab mix wandered away from her home, practically the whole community turned out to help find her.

Sounds as if there are some good people out there that I can take off my "woodchipper" list.
ReplyDeleteGood way to start a day. Some times I wonder if I still live in America. I reckon I do.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing better than an old dog is an old, deaf dog.
ReplyDeleteNot to be outdone, of course, by a three legged dog, young or old. They're impossible to beat.
Had one of those missing a rear leg. I was out playing with him one day when a co-worker stopped by. I kept kicking the ball and the dog tore at it using his front paws to direct it as he pushed it back for another kick as I was conversing. About 5 minutes in, said co-worker got a look like cold water had just been dumped on him when he realized my dear Noah (RIP-old age, not the car) had only three legs. After getting hit by a car and loosing it, and the happy pills wearing/weened off in a few weeks, he was at full speed and just made the best of it as he could. No sulking, no crying, no safe space... Just live and be a dog....A bit of that thought pattern we all can learn from IMHO.
DeleteEmotionally, dogs are the kick in the ass we all need, and most if not all of us here understand.
"Dog Mom?"
ReplyDeleteI fink I may fwow up.
God bless all involved and God bless Texas. Ohio Guy
ReplyDeleteThere's a reason I like dogs better'n people.
