California Grossly Expands Legal Definition of ‘Assault Weapon’

U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Following the passage of Senate Bill 118 during the 2020 Legislative Session, the California Department of Justice announced recently that those small number of firearms covered by SB 118 would need to be registered. The registration period for “Other Assault Weapons” will open on October 1, 2021, and run through the end of the year. For those who intend to comply with this registration requirement, please see the below information:

  1. I'm just waiting for them to declare anything vaguely tubular that has something come out of the end as an assault weapon, only later realizing they've outlawed garden hoses and being male. Of course, the outlawing being male wouldn't be all that surprising...

    There are so few firearms that are not a rifle pistol or shotgun. I guess the Shockwave and it's like are the target but it has a fixed mag. I don't know what they are trying to ban?!?

    1. They're going after a specific firearm, the Franklin Armory Title 1, which is basically an AR without a stock.
