I really, really need this

Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A British man broke a Guinness World Record when he built a riding lawn mower that reaches a speed of 143.19 mph.

Tony Edwards, a mechanical engineer from St. Martins, Shropshire, England, said he became interested in building the world's fastest lawnmower about two years ago.

Let's see, at 140 mph, it'll cut (no pun intended) my lawn mowing time from 3.5 hours down to about 7 minutes.

  1. ....IF you can keep it on the lawn. I expect cornering is kinda fun, too. But if it's got a backup gear, well, it might be a little easier.

  2. Build a trail mower with an offset hitch, just finished one for a friend 20hp 60" cut with an adjustable offset hitch, he can now cut 120" wide with a riding lawn mower

  4. Note; this was built for breaking a record, not actually mowing any sort of lawn. At anything approaching that speed and still being able to "mow" grass, the blades would have to be turning somewhere around 80,000RPM, or more. Literally sucking the grass into the blade. But it would be fun!

  5. How big is your lawn?
Do you own a ranch where on the one side you have the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and on the other side the waters of the Pacific Ocean?

    1. My house sits on 3 acres of grass. During the warm months, I mow every 5-6 days.

    2. When you turn at high speeds, the mower scalps the grass on the outside of the turn.
Don't ask me how I know.

  6. OK, it can clock 143mph, but does it have a beer holder? Nemo

  7. To call it a mower is pretty much of a stretch. If it actually comes to cutting grass, I'd rather have my Exmark.

  9. Back in my Radio days, the Classic Rock station I managed did a promotion called "The Mother's Day Little 500". We hooked in a lawnmower dealer and made a track around the parking lot. Winner won a gift certificate. It made the TeeVee news which was the objective. Fucking insurance company made us remove the blades.
