Can't say that I blame the kid

STOCKTON (CBS13) — A student at Franklin High School in Stockton was found with a loaded gun in his jacket while on campus Wednesday, officials said.

*****

Franklin is a serious ghetto high school. I wouldn't even step foot in that neighborhood without a loaded gun.

  2. Fake news. It's California. It's illegal for a kid to have a pistol there. SARC /

  3. "in Stockton" was enough for me to know this is where you don't want to be.

I was backfilling a satellite dish install for a tech that had the contract where he took a 2 week vacation. The job was at Ford dealerships 20 years ago. It was a 4 hour job at the Stockton Ford dealership where I left my tools and the equipment at the dealership to go get lunch. I stopped at a street taco stand where I wasn't away from the car more than 5 minutes. I was parked two cars behind the taco stand and could see the drivers side of the car. When I got back to the car the passenger side window had been broken and the car cabin was ransacked. I had nothing of value in the cabin but they popped the trunk and stole my backpack that had a company computer, external hard drive, and a top end GPS. It took the cops over an hour to get there and another 45 minutes to get everything they needed for their report. The only positive thing was it was a rental car and I had a nicer laptop overnighted to me at the hotel I was staying at in East Oakland. I also turned in the rental with a copy of the police report and was upgraded a large luxury sedan from the mid-size. I put 16 of those V-Sat systems in at various Ford dealerships in 2 weeks and was glad to be done with them. As far as I could tell the entire area of Stockton made me feel like I was in the bad section of the hood.

  4. About 25 years ago I was at Franklin on a pre-bid job walk being led by one of the Stockton Schools Operations guys. We walked past a chain link (four sides and the top) backflow enclosure. We couldn't figure out why the top was stretched out until someone pointed out the bra down on the backflow preventer

From there we went around a corner and walked past a group playing handball. Just as we got there, another ethnic group came walking between the buildings just ahead. It was a pretty good stare down between the two groups with our group caught in the middle. After we got past, several asked questions about that being the norm for the campus. The answer was yes, which must of scared off some, as there was only one other bidder on that job.
