Well DAMN, having that in the trunk is...um... counterproductive. He needs to carry that thing under a blanket in the passenger floorboard. And an AR-pistol with a 7-in. barrel would be even more wieldy. People who bring katanas to gunfights are hilarious.
I've seen this several times. But this time I noticed that the sword blade appears to be extremely flexible, almost flimsy. Additionally, the sword bearer grabbed the blade bare handed making me think it wasn't very sharp. It may have been a replica or a toy. Either way, the way the other guy went for his rifle he took the threat seriously. As he should!
This is why state laws that require firearms to be transported "unloaded and in a locked container" (like the trunk of a car) render them useless for self defense. Which violates the individual's Second Amendment rights.
If I understand Michigan law the CCW allows the pistol concealed in the car but doesn’t provide for open carry of anything in a vehicle. While “ “in theory” open carry is legal, you’ll likely get arrested in much of the state. Tsgt joe.
Correct. It's a Concealed PISTOL License. And "open carry" is legal but not in a car because then you're not "openly carrying". It's concealed in the car. True "open carry" involves walking with it in plain sight in public. You won't get arrested in most places but you will meet police who will want to know what you're doing.

ReplyDeleteIt's Portland, very difficult to carry a loaded firearm, including having a mag unloaded and not installed.
DeleteRemind me never to attempt to drive on Russia.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful example of a rifle in the trunk doesnt do you much good. Guy would have been sushi if Mr. Samurai was committed.

ReplyDeleteIf the "swordsman" was serious, which he obviously wasn't, the driver would not have had time to open his trunk. Never make idle threats.

ReplyDeleteHere in Tennessee, I can drive with a loaded uncased AR on the front seat next to me. Have I ever mentioned how much I love Tennessee?
DeleteYeah... once or twice.
DeleteTennessee sounds good. but like every other place in the USA right now, it is only and election away from something else.
ReplyDeleteI get spammed from Dems as well as Rep and the dems are vilifying the rep's so I feel they are firmly committed in destroying the USA.
In Michigan, I can have my CCW pistol in my vehicle. I don't think I can have a long gun, though. I will have to check into that.
ReplyDeleteUmmm....an AR pistol....maybe 10 1/4 or 11 1/2 inches....

You can if you want to...but go ahead and make sure to OBEY. Ohio Guy
DeleteNo, you can't carry a loaded long gun in a car in Michigan. Trust me on this one. I'm an Assistant Prosecutor a couple counties over from you.
