Where bad choices make good stories
For people that can't tie knots.....
That's me!Thanks, W.C.
Seems the only good, secure knot I can tie is in my work boots or tennis shoe laces.
Many times even those fail for me, some laces are worse than others, and I tend to double knot my shoes. Still better than Velcro!
Variation on two half hitchesDiffer
When I need to use a hookless chain as a tow chain I use two half hitches on each end. After the pull the chain is easy to untie and away you go.
A bowline (optionally with a bight) works better, never slips, always unties, even when wet. Ask any sailor.
Agreed, a bowline is my go to for many things. You can double it up when using a strap and still untie it. Buddha
Now she’ll never be able to get out of the basement....
Hell for even us Boy scouts, that is a useful knot.
If it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.
Knot helpful.
As we say in the line trade "can't tie a knot? Tie alot"
A useful quick hitch.
Learn to tie a bowline knot. You can thank me later.
Also called a gopher knot. Gotta go fer your knife to untie it after you put a load on it.
Similar to the hatchet knot.
Two half hitches, bowline, and clove hitch are my go-to knots
First time I ever saw a rope with different colors at each end.
But what if the tail end, the supposedly short tie end, needs to be 150 ft long? That's a lot of line pulling for the short tie. I'd just use 2 half itches and be done with it. That about all he's doing here anyway.
It appears to be a variation of the slip knot. The clove hitch works well in all of those situations.
I agree. Clove hitch with a half hitch back-up. Very useful knot but it will bind in certain situations.
