I second this and it's actually my pocket procedure if I ever grow corn. The perimeter fencing seems to be keeping them out but they are still on the other side.
I hear you want to pen a couple of the small ones.... Feed them some good grain....before you make them into bacon.... The rest kill them and turn into fertilizer.... Coming out of a grain field might wave the pen, feed, kill, bacon cycle....tho.
Not sure if wild boar meat tastes like the Virginia peanut-fed bacon or ham. I’ve never had it. Some that I know that have like it and other’s don’t, but both agree the faste is different.
Had some wild boar at one of those tony restaurants back when I could afford shit like that. They served it with a jelly that when combined with the meat, tasty might good. I've also had kangaroo tail and it was like chicken.
White tail deer here in Michigan can do the same thing. It is a delicate balance for our DNR. The hunters, the farmers, and the auto insurance companies all have competing interests. Only the hunters want the herds to stay large. Years ago, there were herds of hundreds of them in the spring. Now you don't see that so much, in my neck of the woods. But the population is still higher than it was back in the mid 70's.
That many pigs, how is there any corn left?
ReplyDeleteLooks line a bunch of cockroaches leaving an area after the light was turned on.

Bacon!
ReplyDeleteShould have staged shooters strategically.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I was thinking, especially knowing the damage they do. Probably did not want to deal with them while harvesting.
