Your Feel-Good Story of the Day

WESTERLY, R.I. — High school students in Rhode Island made it easier for a boy in a wheelchair to remain sheltered while waiting for his bus each morning.

The construction class at Westerly High School built a bus hut for 5-year-old Ryder Kilam, WJAR reported. The structure sits at the end of the driveway of the boy’s home, allowing him to wait in comfort for the bus that will take him to Dunn’s Corners Elementary School in Westerly.

These Feel-Good stories are a nice relief from all the bullshit and hatred we're surrounded with these days. I'll continue to post them as I run across them.

  2. Good on those high school students. We forget there are a lot of good kids out there. I can just imagine that little bit of pride they'd feel when those students pass that structure they built for the little guy.

    1. Wish I was a better teenager, not that I was all that bad. I missed so many opportunities where I could have felt proud and instead wallowed, often, in shame. I hope I modelled better behavior for my kids and clearly explained how seemingly benign things from the past rob us of feeling "good" as we get older. Shame sticks to us like boogers and dingleberries.

  3. Feel good stories are great. There is so much negativity and sadness. We are not going to get out of this mess using the same mindset that got us into this mess. Do not mistake kindness for weakness or liberalism. Liberalism is a pathological psychiatric disorder. Compassion comes from strength and good role models.

  9. Now all he needs is security camera to keep an eye on him and the beautiful structure that the high school kids built. I hope he has a heater in there to keep him warm on winter mornings.
Thanks again for a great story.
