"Hey Elmer, Remember how we used to throw bullets into the fire when we were kids?"

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Police responding to a fire alarm and the sound of gunshots at a South Carolina assisted living facility say a resident had placed several rounds of ammunition in a toaster.

  1. Oh, C'mon. Most of you have fired "hot" loads before...... He had just misplaced his reloading logbook when he moved.

  2. Anything to relieve the boredom of living in an assisted living facility.

  3. My wife worked in such a facility, and many of the adults (by age, not mental capacity) she cared for would have done this if they could have got the ammunition. For that matter, when I was in the Air Force, some of the E1's and E2's in the barracks might have done this to relieve the boredom if we'd left them to our own devices for too long. The NCO's in my squadron had a duty rotation to watch over the barracks at night and weekends; you could nap for 50 minutes at a time, but had to get up and walk through all the corridors once an hour. There was only a small chance of catching a troop at something, but it kept them reminded to avoid anything that they could not clean up or cover up pretty quickly.
