My first car was a 75 Chevy Malibu, handed down from my grandparents. Drove it till it basically rusted out.
Anyway, a lady in a Pontiac 6000 came flying out of a parking lot on a particularly slippery December day and we clipped corners. I got spun a little bit, she oddly enough got knocked into a parking spot on the street. We exchanged info and a few weeks later I had an appointment with the insurance people to give my report/side of the story/whatever.
After telling the guy what happened he was like "let's go take a look at the damage to your car." I replied with "Um, there's no damage. I don't think there's even a scratch on the bumper." I'll never forget the shocked look on his face. It turned out her bumper got pushed sideways and the whole front end of her car was so banged up they wrote it off.
That car was a tank on wheels. It also had swivel bucket seats and got 12 MPG when the AC was on.
Instead of looking at that as an example of an inexperienced driver I see a testimony to modern engineering. If I’d done that in the 67 Chevy Belair wagon I first drove I’d be dead the car would be fine.
Being a big fan of the BRZ/FRS/86 cars, that makes my eyes water. If you know who Scotty Kilmer is, earlier this summer I drove my 86 to his place and he did a video on it. Fun little cars. Just enough power (especially with a custom tune) to be fun but not enough to get you into too much trouble.
Or she slammed into someone and then got rear ended. Odds are it's her fault. 90++% of the accidents I see there is at least one woman driver standing at the scene.
Probably was her fault. I warn my Pinay girlfriend all of the time about female Asian drivers but she doesn't believe me. All she does is hit me and pull my ears. At least I have trained her to yell at Californian drivers to go back to California. It is a challenge but like they say, small steps at a time.
I never believed how bad of drivers Asians were, especially the female of them, until I lived in Washington for a year. Up there it even translates to driving shopping carts. I got hit so many times that I started throwing extra crap into their carts when they weren't looking if they hit me. My girlfriend at the time (islander) would get mad at me if I said anything, so it was the little things that would get me through shopping.
The little half-smirk on her face tells you everything you need to know about her and her family. She is probably pissed it will take the dealership about two days to get another one in blue. -Just A Chemist
No, that damage on the hood screams collision, but with front and rear end damage it is possible that she was rear ended and pushed into the car in front. That happened to my wife in college-drunk driver in a pickup hit her while she was stopped at a light and pushed her and the four cars stopped in front of her at the light through the intersection. I had a kid do that to me as well, although I was the first car at the left hand turn so it was only rear end damage.
Any one surprised at this?

"At least the airbag works."
ReplyDeleteI bet it was dad's idea to take the second pick
ReplyDeleteIn the cars I drove when I was her age, that kinda damage, I'd be dead.
ReplyDeleteEven wrecked it doesn't look much worse than some cars I had at her age.
DeleteWhen I was her age the cars I bought already had that kind of damage. No, I didn't fix them up, just banged and cut until it was drivable.

Gave my 16 yo daughter an Isuzu Trooper. Her mom said it wasn't "cool enough" and gave my kid her 2015 Charger. Same result. Hahahaha!
ReplyDeleteShe's wearing the same clothes, same purse...I wonder how many hours/minutes passed between the before and after pics.
ReplyDeleteIf it's the same one that was in the news, it was just after she left the dealership.

In my first car, I'd be dead. '63 Nova, no seatbelts, metal dashboard, no crush zones.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm......I wonder why the words "spoiled brat" instantly came to mind as soon as I saw the picture?

ReplyDeleteFront and rear are damaged. It’s possible that she was rear-ended and pushed into the car in front of her. Seriously, try a little compassion.
ReplyDeleteOr you could get a sense of humor.

Possible, but notice all the water. Could be car damaged in the tornado.
