Okay, this will piss me off

Coffee prices soared to a 10-year high on Monday, with experts projecting the high costs to last well into 2023, CNBC reported.

Coffee contracts for December hit $2.34 per pound at the end of Monday’s trading day, CNBC reported. Coffee futures on the New York Intercontinental Exchange soared to $2.46 on Thursday, recording the highest price since 2011.

I don't drink anything but water during the day, but I seriously enjoy my 2 cups of coffee in the morning.

  1. That’s a coincidence. I drink two cups of coffee in the morning and water until bed time.

    1. I drink maybe 2 sodas or glasses of tea a year, and that's if we go to a restaurant. Other than that, water, maybe 8 bottles a day unless it's really hot and I'm working outside.

  2. I saw this coming and have about 5 pounds of whole bean stashed in the freezer.

  3. Coffee and water are all I drink. Two cups a coffee in the morn and I'm good to go. I buy French Blend whole bean. I grind my own in a burr grinder and run it through a French Press. Best coffee there is in my opinion.

    1. I love a French press, but Lisa wants her coffee the exact same way every cup and you're not going to get that from a press. I mean, I can't tell the difference from one cup to the next but she damned sure can.

    2. The answer: https://aeropress.com/

I use the inverted brewing method and warm the water in the microwave.

    3. I have an Aero Press, gifted to me by one of my sons. I'm not a fan. After my second Mr.Coffee drip brewer in the last five years crapped out, I purchased an Italian made espresso coffee maker. Best coffee ever.

    4. Might I suggest process adjustments:

  4. Unfortunately, my 2 cups get chased with a Rolaids more often than not these days.

  5. I buy green beans and roast them in a hot air popcorn device. Cheaper and you can get any coffee you want. You can roast them in a skillet also. Second cracking just as it starts to smoke a little.

  6. Shit's about to get real.
I've worked my was up to nearly a pot a day. I need something repetitive to do with a stimulant effect while I'm working at a desk all day. I don't smoke, nor anything else, so sipping coffee is a nice way to work. My productivity is going to nosedive along with my mood.

  7. I use a 1970's vintage GE percolator. MUCH better than Mr.Coffee

  8. I had to quit drinking coffee because of acid reflux. I drink unsweet tea by the gallon though. If the price goes up like it is for coffee I'll at least be mildly annoyed.

    1. I developed acid reflux when taking a particular prescription medication. After changing meds it went away and I still drink coffee. So, think back to when the reflux started up and see if it coincides with a particular med startup.

  9. I make cowboy coffee, best way to brew. Simply add the grounds to the pot of water, bring up to a rolling boil, boil down about 10 minutes. Let sit for 2 minutes, pour 1/4 cup cold water slowly on top, most of the grounds will sink. Or, pour it in a French press. It truly is the best coffee ever, takes out all the bitterness. Try it, I kid you not. Hybo

    1. At scout camp they would stuff a piece of scouring pad (the soapless type) in the pot's spout to filter most of the grounds out.

    2. What? That's sacrilege! The best thing about drinking Cowboy Coffee outdoors is spitting grounds out one at a time, curling each individual ground between your tongue and your lips as you eject them. That's the fun part.
      And it's manly, too!

    3. I'm no expert, but you NEVER boil your coffee. You steep it in near boiling water long enough to extract the goodness. Then again, I'm no cowboy.

  10. Boil for 10 minutes? That is the worst idea ever.

Drop into boiling water and remove from heat.

  11. Thanks for the heads-up, Kenny. Just bought a shit-load of K-cups. 168 should last for close to 6 months.

  12. Been catching sales on coffee ever since the story broke on the coffee supply months ago. Drink either two cups or four cups (1 mug or 2) for breakfast depending on what foods I eat. Every container gets a large sticker with the expiration date put on the front since cans last longer than bags. That way I can see it if I don't have my glasses on.

  13. I think hot water is one of the most important parts of making coffee. If it's not 200 degrees yer screwed. I have a Bunn coffee make that is a reservoir. I always have on demand 200 degree water. The Cuisinart Burr grinder is set halfway between Med and Course with one extra click toward course. The amount of ground coffee I set at one click less then twelve cups. I use French blend whole bean. I fill the 32 oz French press and dump it in the Bunn. This makes me about three and a half mugs of coffee. Never use fine or real course in a French press. I also let mine set four minutes before pushing the plunger. I think Mr. Coffee now has water up to 180 degrees but I remember when it was a lot less than that in those machines. Still 180 is not hot enough.

  14. Thanks for the heads up on coffee prices ya'll. I just bought 5 lbs of whole bean. F*k Joe Biden and the democrats.
