Looks like they held one six years ago and 86 people took advantage of the program. Sometimes it's as simple as an unpaid traffic ticket.
ReplyDeleteWay back, when I was young and dumb, I "forgot" to pay a $25 ticket for unsafe driving.( Had an extension ladder sticking out of the back of my truck more than three feet with no flagging on the end of it.)
Several months later, got caught in a road check, arrested and taken to jail, as well as my vehicle impounded, just because of the unpaid ticket. Ended up costing me a fine of $135 (or a week in jail), plus the impoundment fee to get my truck back.
Sounds like state-sanctioned extortion through the use of violence for a non-crime; a non-crime being a fictitious fiat crime with no victim.
