Shit, I'd have just run up behind him and tipped him over

TUCSON, Ariz. — An Arizona police officer is out of a job after he fatally shot a suspected shoplifter nine times from behind Monday night in an incident the mayor of Tucson has described as “unconscionable and indefensible.”

The deceased man, Richard Lee Richards, 61, was using a motorized wheelchair at the time, and had brandished a knife, police said.

  1. I watched the body cam and store surveillance videos. That cop should be drawn, hanged, and quartered.

  2. "Unconscionable and indefensible.” Perhaps. But, he was armed with a knife and I am supposing that the lawful order of a police officer to cease and desist criminal behavior was unheeded. Sorry of this sounds unreasonable, but this is the first act of degeneration into a lawless and criminalized society. As we are seeing in the big cities, this ends up with law abiding citizens being openly robbed or murdered in the name of "social justice" and "equity".

    1. Failing to obey a government employee's orders is not supposed to result in summary execution. If the cop is such a dumbass or coward that he could not come up with another way to stop a man in a power wheelchair other than shooting him 9 times in the back with the last shot coming after a couple seconds of contemplation , then he is too stupid or cowardly to be a cop. Out of control cops are more of a danger to the average White citizen than mobs destroying their own neighborhoods in urban cesspits.

    2. I watched the footage he was a mad cunt on a motorized wheelchair the cop could have kicked the wheelchair over and stopped the the threat. I'm aware knives are lethal weapons but common sense should still prevail particularly when you are in uniform if he wasn't white America would be burning again.

  4. "the officer has been terminated." If only. There was no fucking reason in the world for that, other than the asshole wanting to put a notch on the gun.

  5. Oh, I get it. Bad guy was gonna drop his knife. Yeah, yeah, that's right. Cop should have guessed that. No way was he gonna hold onto knife and stab first person he encountered. I got a better idea; fire the mayor.

  6. Unless he's de-certified he can walk across the street and get a LEO gig in another jurisdiction.

  7. To play devils advocate for anyone thinking disabled man =/= a threat... I am a disabled dude. I possess the fabled retard strength, and I have on many occasions in my life, SEVERELY hurt people that have pissed me off. Just because dude was in a chair does NOT make him less dangerous than an able bodied person.

  8. It looks like this can be described in two equally valid ways.
Suicide by cop, and cold blooded murder.
It seems the guy had a pretty miserable existence and just wanted to end it, and the affirmative action hire with a badge was too stupid to de-escalate the situation.
Disabling/immobilizing the wheelchair long before the guy got across the parking lot would have been very easy. Once the wheelchair is stationary there are a lot of options for ending the situation that don't involve shooting an invalid in the back nine times.

  10. Even though I agree it was excessive. You should NEVER condone stealing at any level and must assume bad things could happen if you CHOOSE to do so. Bad things happen to bad people. Mostly self induced.

  14. When assholes collide! The law most places requires that use of deadly force is only legal when one is confronted by by a valid realistic threat o death a serious bodily harm. And cops do not have a special exemption from such laws. A person in a motorized wheelchair is not a significant threat to someone of normal mobility even if they have a knife. You just stay on of his read till more help arrives. The threat to this officer was not imminent and the shoplifters refusal to obey constituted "contempt of cop", not a deadly threat. Cop needs to be charged with Second Degree Murder.
