Should've asked a pothead instead of spending the money on a study

It’s a common assumption among marijuana users: Using weed will help you fall asleep and stay asleep. Scientists, however, aren’t so sure that’s true.

“This is an understudied but important area, as many people are increasingly turning to cannabis products as sleep aids,” said sleep specialist Wendy Troxel, a senior behavioral scientist at RAND Corporation, who was not involved in the study.

Back when I was smoking that shit, I was sure it would help put me to sleep but it was a restless sleep and dreaming was a very rare thing. Hell, I went for years without dreaming.
When I quit, I was tripping on not being able to go to sleep, but I think I was falling asleep quicker and within a week of quitting, my dreams were back. Not only that, but it used to take me three cups of coffee to wake up in the morning. After I quit smoking weed, maybe one.

  1. Millions of non native, salmon eating Shad in OREGON'S Columbia river. Are they going to net them and solve the problem? Nope. They're going to conduct a study.

  4. You want dreams, and not at the expense of sleep...a 3mg capsule of Boron every 3 days. Decades of minimal dreams, to very realistic ones you can remember when you wake up. Between the boron and benfotiamine...I really don't WANT to wake up in the mornings.

  6. No comment (ATF regulations). I sleep 10 to 12 hours a night. No dreams that I bother with. Otherwise fine. Smoking nightly would probably shut down my mind from daily business stress so I could fall sleep. Probably. ;-)

  8. I'm 61. Been a chronic daily weed user since 1976. I'm talking bongs & coffee at 5am and tune ups about every two hours all day, every day regardless what's on the docket. Cruised through 4 yr college and have worked my entire career with that daily routine. I sleep like a baby and fall off often within five minutes but I will confirm, I rarely recall any dreams maybe two annually. And all that "this ain't your grandpappy's weed" crap is just that. I have grown and had access to excellent green weed (Sinsemilla) since 1988. Todays weed is no better/worse just ,ore hybridized instead of "whatever is in town."

  9. Wirecutter, if you're still having problems going to sleep, try 10mg of Melatonin. The wife & I take that plus 10 mg of L-Tyrosine (an amino acid). Both are available cheaply at Swansonvitamins.com

  10. Enh, they commissioned studies to find out why people wanted to break out of prisons, too. A little "study" grift never hurt anyone.

  11. Sitting in the easy chair with a cat (or 2) on my lap puts me out before the movie's over, weed or no.
    It's a sure thing.
