Chickens appear to be a bit daft in some ways but that is because we are judging them from a human perspective. They are clever about things that matter to chickens.
Yeah, I like them, ours have kept us and our neighbours supplied with eggs this year. Their antics can be funny and entertaining sometimes. If you need a piece of waste ground clearing they are just brilliant. Amazing creatures.
I went to close the coop one night. A hen was missing. The rooster got past me and ran into the brush at the tree line; I thought, "Damn, there goes two birds". I heard an odd clucking noise I had not recalled hearing before. A minute or two later, out struts the rooster with a dutiful hen following him.
Them eggs weren't going to fertilize themselves. Like cats and dogs, they are stupid until they really want something.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they aren't as stupid as some think they are. Ya know why the chicken crossed the road? For some fowl reason. ho, ho and ho.
ReplyDeleteThat was one horny rooster!
