There’s a video of just that. Somewhere in Asia the platform of one began falling apart with a woman and kid. She had time to grab the kid and toss out of the way just as the escalator ate her.
Must have the sensitivity turned way down. I stopped one going up when the toes of my shoes were rammed into the step above when it started to come down. Had to walk up the last 2 or 3 steps. Went around to the next on going up and did it again to prove to myself it was me.
