Sure, he says that now, but just wait...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP/CBS13) — Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday said confirmation of the first U.S. case of the COVID-19 omicron variant in California was not surprising, urging residents to “remain vigilant” and said there shouldn’t be another shutdown heading into the holidays.

  1. Oh is he back in the states now that his stem cell treatment is finished in Cabo?

  2. The COVID tests can't distinguish between variants. It's just a Positive or Negative on the presence of any COVID-19. A small sample of tests are forwarded to a lab that is able to distinguish the variants. From there, the CDC extrapolates the actual spread of the disease. That's perfectly fine, as long as you understand the limitations of the process.
