#7 Actually, they just don't like the sound. If you play the sound of running water over a speaker, beavers will try to cover the speaker with a dam. If you pipe moving water through their dam without it making noise they just ignore it.
It's not even a matter of not liking the sound. It's more that the sound tells them that there is a possible place to build a dam (recall that it will also be their nest) and raise kids. If anything, they LOVE the sound of moving water, at least until they get the dam/nest up-- THEN hearing it again (other than at the sluice) becomes a problem.
