They're gonna fit right in as Floridians

  1. #3 reason why I do not have a cell phone. Freedom to travel, drives my kids bonkers!

    1. This. I reduced my cell carrying after I learned that the "lifetime location history" of the device was used to catch a "terrorist". It's little more than a pocket snitch and its location history can be converted to a heat map that will show where someone goes, when, how often, and likely which other devices (friends and family) are routinely nearby. It's a centralized data collector, a goldmine of information.

These days I don't carry one at all except when the risk of an emergency significantly rises. In the future, I may built an attenuation box, then I can have it with me if *I* need it, but it can't communicate with anyone or anything until I open the box. Unless it's keeping track of its movement with accelerometers, it will be clueless as to where it went after entering the box.

    2. If I'm not using it, or expecting a call, it's off.

  2. Why do all the crazies from the Northeast/Midwest end up in Fla? Because it is too far away to drive to Californica and Fla has gators for immediate need of disposal items.

  3. The device they maybe used to "ping" them was probably a "Stingray". The cops buy these from asset forfiture, local towns and cities dont supply the money so there is no record of the police snooping(spying) on the locals.
When I leave my house I carry my phone in a fabric bag I sewed from a product I found online that blocks cell signals. I only need my phone in case I break down so I really have no need to leave it always to be gathering signals from a tower.
I would not answer a phone while I am driving, been that way from forever, so this thing just keeps googl from tracking me, and also the po-po with the stingray device.
The fabric is available from a number of places, they have also wallpaper and other stuff like it that blocks signals. You can line your house with it if you want.
When I do take my phone out of the bag it takes about 10-30 seconds for the phone to find its signal again. Like waking from a coma.
