Your Feel-Good Story of the Day

TAMPA, Fla. - Groomers removed two whole pounds of excess hair from a dog that was abandoned last month by his owner at Tampa International Airport, and ‘Bama’ is now settling into his new home.

Corinn Smith with VIP Rescue rushed to TPA after she got a call from airport police that a shih tzu-mix had been left at the American Airlines ticket counter.

Airport police say the owner couldn’t provide vet records to fly with the dog, so she simply discarded him in a high-traffic area.

Without hesitation, Smith took him in – but Bama first needed a little grooming.

  3. Have a friend whose german shepherd, Bettie, tore her crate apart and got lose on the Bozeman airport tarmac. TSA banned her from flying. They ended up driving rental cars all the way to Virginia.

  4. You can tell a hell of a lot about a person by how they treat their animals. I imagine that someone famous has said something like this, such as Mark Twain or such, but it really is the truth. My wife of almost 30 years and I have had dogs almost since we have been married. And I would be more likely to stay in pain than to allow my dog to suffer in pain.
And I also now feel that if you are not able to financially take care of an animal, you should not own one. The least you can do is to get them their necessary shots as needed and feed them properly and maintain a reasonable amount of exercise and play. If you are not able to give a dog like a Jack Russel Terrier the amount of exercise it needs, don't get that breed. There are also plenty of older dogs that are at shelters, whose needs for exercise are much less, and just need love, attention, and someone to love back.
I agree with T Sedlak, the more people I meet, the more I like my dog. At least if my dog bites me, it is because I did something to him. Like step on his foot, on accident, and then he tries to kiss me, to apologize. I am almost certain that God made the animals first, then mankind, and then had to go back and make dogs, to try and cover up the mistakes inherent with humans.
