It was, of course, accidental on his part but the simple fact remains, Alec Baldwin shot and killed that woman. All indications are that there were multiple contributing factors. It could have been simple negligence, but the possibility of malice can't be discounted.
Whatever the circumstances leading up the shooting were, two things cannot be denied. 1. The woman was shot and killed. 2. Alec Baldwin discharged the weapon.
"America's Untold Stories" podcast has been covering this really well, 14 episodes so far and all of them very entertaining - one of the speakers is Mark Groubert, a veteran journalist and Hollywood insider.
Not that I watch lefty TV or much TV at all except for the History Channel, but I have seen news reports of Baldwin appearing here there and everywhere in different gigs since the shooting. Couldn't be his lefty buddies in the entertainment industry are lining his pockets so that he doesn't take that big a hit and loose ALL his money could it?
That just shows you where their heads are at. Instead of being shunned, he's being rewarded by the same scum he's made from.
If you ever want to see creative bookkeeping, look at Hollywood. There is a very good chance that Alex Baldwin owns next to nothing and that the vast majority of his assets are held in various trusts and/or semi-shell companies.
Once you have enough assets to be sued over, in general, you end up with at least three different trusts: one for each home, one for your vehicles, and one for your other assets (stocks, bonds, etc.). That way if there is a car accident, the most the injured parties can go after is yours cars (if they can prove that the car had a mechanical failure and was at fault).
This combined with 401K assets (but not IRA assets) being beyond the reach of civil court is why Ron Goldman's family never collected anything from O.J. -- he didn't own anything.
In the end, the only thing the family is going to get for the wrongful death of Halyna Hutchins is whatever liability insurance the Rust production company had and potentially whatever umbrella liability insurance that Alex Baldwin had.
It's a pretty good bet that he and the production company have pretty good liability insurance, which is typically what the lawyers go after since it's a much easier grab. I'd be surprised if Baldwin needs to pony up much more than legal fees.
He shot her from 2 feet away. Didn't the bullet go straight thru her and hit the guy behind her? You'd think with he hatred liberals have for guns, they'd never show a single firearm on TV again. Oh wait, they are hypocrites.
>Didn't the bullet go straight thru her and hit the guy behind her?
Yes, it did. And Baldwin's on record saying (paraphrased): "I didn't know what happened. I stood over her for about a minute. I thought maybe she fainted. Then they came and made us all leave." For his own good that sanctimonious prick needs to STFU and quit running his yap.
For Ohio (yes, I know, NM, but they're all close) this is a slam-dunk Negligent Homicide. Knew it was a real gun (said he was told 'cold gun') but didn't check it himself, pointed it, dropped the hammer. Misdemeanor 1, top of the list. If he claims he shouldn't have had to check it, I'd bump charges to Reckless Homicide, that's a mid-range felony. Criminal conviction a gimme, after that civil side will be a parade. Regardless of hollywood accounting they'll be able to take anything and everything not legally nailed down. Can't see any jury for either side not hammering him, regardless of how much crying he'll do. Sucks to be him, but no sympathies from me.
"Halyna Hutchins was killed in October by a gun being held by actor Alec Baldwin"
ReplyDeleteSheesh.
Halyna Hutchins was killed in October by a gun. yep it was the gun that did it

It was negligent, not accidental. She was the cimenatographer, not an actor, no reason to be pointing a gun at her.

Halyna Hutchins was killed in October by actor Alec Baldwin in the negligent discharge of a handgun that Baldwin did not check to see was unloaded.
ReplyDeleteWas an SUV involved?

Note: I am not a lawyer, nor do I play one on TV.
But did you sleep at a Holiday Inn Express?....
DeleteYes, but not this week.

ReplyDeleteI'm wiling to bet that "pretty good liability" was probably the minimum required by law.
