Carhartt???!!! NO WAY!!!

Vaccine mandates have taken on a life of their own outside of the Biden-Harris regime’s failure to convince the Supreme Court to disavow the U.S. Constitution. Despite the OSHA ruling dropping the mandate for employers with over 100 employees, many are continuing with their mandate plans unabated.

One such large company is Carhartt, a workwear retailer headquartered in Dearborn, Michigan, that employs more than 5,500 associates worldwide.

I'm sorry to hear this. Every work coat I've owned in the past 30 years has been a Carhartt, and in my closet I've got a couple pair of their overalls and pants. Their clothes are rugged as hell and stand up to years of use and abuse.
Looks like I'll be on the lookout for another brand.

  1. Don't worry. Forcing this mandate and the people quitting because of it is merely a smoke screen for shipping off the jobs to China.

  2. The cocksucker get drunk with money and power and forget who made them rich. It's the country folk that made them rich. The real Americans. I agree, I'll never buy another of their products.

    1. Almost all of Duluth's products are imported, but they don't say from where.

    2. I wear a lot of Duluth Trading clothing - probably 90% of the time. I don't see China labels on it - mostly Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The stuff lasts forever.

    3. I agree, DT fit my 60 yr old body far better than Carharts, I love all their gear!

    4. second on Duluth. I went to Tractor Supply and bought Liberty coveralls. very nice and sturdy. Seem as good as CH

  6. Although the name escapes me, Tractor Supply carries a similar product line. I have the insulated bibs, they wear just like that other brand...

    1. Had not heard of them, so went to the site. Looks good, but everything I tried to buy said "ships in 4 to 6 months. Will delay entire order." WTF?

    2. Roundhouse does batch production. You have to watch them for what's in stock. I've bought from them, mostly irregulars. You'll just have to keep checking on a weekly basis to see what they're sewing.
For irregulars, they have some heartless inspectors. Even I have trouble finding the problem sometimes
Their sizing is different. I wear 50x32 in carhartt, liberty and dickie bibs. Theirs are 54x30.

    3. I have several pairs of Roundhouse overalls and they have been good. WylieMike

  12. Berne workwear. I'm in the same boat. Got two weeks of work shirts, two jackets, sweatshirts, etc. all without the logo now and never again will they get a penny from me.

  14. Well, the good thing about Carhartt is you probably won't have to buy much new since their stuff lasts for years.

Shame to hear about Berne as well. I bought a Berne work coat with concealed carry pockets on it back in the fall. It has become my favorite coat. It won't quite hold a 1911, but I can carry a S&W Shield, compact Ruger Security 9, or a LCR with no problems.

    2. I think I got a steal on that Berne. I was going to buy it regardless. But when they rang it up, they only charged me $18. I was rather happy at that price.

  15. I get my work clothes form a retain outlet called "Work n' Gear"

This is the brands they sell, and Carhartt is one of many:

Just go to the store (whatever retailer that you patronize) and look at the merchandise in person. You can easily see which ones are quality made.

  18. Just ordered some jeans from a company called Key. They look great.

    https://www.keyapparel.com/denim-logger-dungaree/

Single-front logger jeans with suspender buttons. Looks like they've been in business over 100 years. Decent price. 'Murkin-Made.

    1. I have tried Key brand overalls, the pockets both on the bib and the front pockets tend to be smaller than on other brands of overalls. I prefer the Big Smith label by Walls. But other than the pockets the denim is perfectly serviceable.

    2. In Oregon, with our heritage of forestry conservation, your suspender buttons are indestructible brass and we call them 'logger-studs'.
Shoe-repair shops install them for a buck apiece.

  19. Berne is way better and has been for some time. Carhatt is going the way of LL Bean, Lands End, and Orvis. Still high quality but focused on pretty rather than practical.

  23. Went to Berne for my last bibs and heavy coat. Like the conceal pockets on the coat. 1911 is too big for it but nice overall.

  24. I quit buying Carthartt pants years ago when they sent their manufacturing to Mexico. I've been using Wranglers ever since. I still have a few Carthartt sweatshirts that the company gave me. They're the rain resistant style and will take a fair amount of water before they soak through. Kind of nice when you're shoveling rock all day and rain gear is way too hot. If I was going to but that stuff I would look for Key or Dickies especially for bibs.

    1. You do realize that Wranglers are made in Mexico and Nicaragua, right? Look at the tag inside the zipper.
I wear Wranglers myself and I don't have a problem with that - I'll do anything to keep the homeboys home.

    2. Plus Levis went all gun control a few years back. I buy Wranglers now. regards, Alemaster

      Delete
    3. I ain't gonna lie. I stopped buying them when they started making them in Mexico because the sizes changed and the crotch tips out of them in a few months. I figured screw it, Wranglers are cheaper and I know they're going to fit and last a while. I know there are American companies making good work pants but I hate buying shit online and that's about the only way I'm going to get the stuff.

I do like your philosophy about keeping the Mexican labor at home. Helps keep our wages up.

  25. God freaking dammit

I try to ignore politics when shopping, I'm picky enough about what I wear, finding quality womens gear, or at least gear that fits this woman and will hold up to shit, is hard enough.

But the vaccine mandate thing pisses me off so god dammed much.

And I need a new coat too. God dammit. Infact I went to the local store a couple weeks ago to buy one but they were out of my size, so I've been watching the website waiting for what I want to come back into stock.

I don't suppose someone can recommend a good alternative to Carhartt's Full Swing Duck coat? The one with the quilted lining?

  26. Used to was Carhartt was very good quality at an affordable price for the working man. They did an admirable job of living up to their reputation for practically ever. But ever since they became a "fashion item for the woke and elitist crowd their prices have gone sky high for what you get and apparently their leadership has gone all wonky as well. There are other and equally as good companies out there producing quality and reasonably priced work clothes. And yup, 98% of them are still made in fckkin chinkladistan or bagladishery. So Carhartt can just stuff it.
