Commentary: The Top 10 Websites for Science in 2021

Science communicators once again had their hands full in 2021. Between two and three million research articles were published this year, announcing discoveries from the microscopic to the cosmic and from the (relatively) mundane to the controversial. The gigantic elephant in the room – COVID-19 – also continued to hang around, killing millions while dishonest actors manufactured misinformation galore.

  1. You are gutsy to publish this list during a time where it is the GOVERNMENT who decides what is science and what is not.
    😇😊😉😂😎

  2. If they weren’t breaking from the narrative and actually reporting the positive effects of Ivermectin and HCQ in defeating Covid, then they weren’t worth mentioning.

  3. It is hard to find science articles that not only know what they are talking about, but that also are able to write it in a manner that the layperson such as myself can understand it. I have been a reader and seeker of information about science and such, my entire life. I have a very tiny hold on things such as quantum theory, string theory, rocket science and the things that go along with it, like escape velocity and the like.
I also have that same understanding of how various industries work, such as the way that supply chain problems can bring production to a halt, and how long it can take, and why, and how to control inventory in order to keep costs down, without draining both capital and losing production, etc. Things like that depend upon mostly one thing. You have to have built good relationships with other good people, and that has to have happened long ago, not just at the time when you have needs. It is the same way with the people who run your factory.
When you put your employees on the wrong side of the balance sheet, that of the costs, and not on the side of the capitol, then you are looking at your employees wrong, and in the end, it will show, with your employees being the thing that holds you back. I have seen it many times, having seen a number of different management types come and go, and their management styles have affected the bottom line, because of the way in which they viewed their employees. With the right person in charge, who treats the employees with respect, to the point where they are willing to ask them how they think a process should be handled, or a better way to do something, you build what the bosses like to call a team, only you will actually have that team, and not just in name. And you will have people who are willing to go out of their way to try and ensure that things work their best, and to avoid things that harm the bottom line.
So sharing lists like this, instead of actually being harmful, can be a good thing, especially if the motive is for a good reason. But as we have seen over the past 2-3 years, or longer if you like, when our government attempts to hide things from it's people, it is then that you get anger, division , and outright attempts at people trying to monkey wrench the entire government, because they do not like to be taken advantage of. And it can be anyone of either side, conservative, or liberal. There are some things that must be done under cover, but the more light you shine on things, the more it acts like a disinfectant. And the more people can trust you, and can choose to follow you. Or they can disagree with you, and at least have a chance to tell you so, and why. But as we have seen for about 250 years, a government that attempts to govern in secret, is doomed to fail. And even today, with covid anything that our government has tried to do in regards to covid, in the dark, it has become a mess, and they have had to step back and either admit it was a mistake, or more than likely, they have had to step back and tried to fix blame on a scapegoat. That is one thing that they have become expert at.
I know, again, a new year, and still, I ramble about in various directions. I promise, I am not mentally suffering, I just like to share my mental difficulties with everyone. At least that way, you can say , well at least I am not as bad as that pigpen guy.
Have a great week, and if you are a praying sort, keep Kenny and Miss Lisa in your prayers this year. He does a great thing for us, and when he is gone, it just makes us know how much we depend on him. And Miss Lisa must keep him in line for him to stay sane with a ragtag bunch like me and the rest.
