MEN OF MAINTENANCE: SOUTHEAST ASIA

  1. I bet the announcer was James Gregory, long time character actor. Starred in The Manchurian Candidate.

  2. Yeah, that's him alright. Lt. Frank Lugar in Barney Miller - his character was perfect.

  3. I knew a guy that was a helicopter mechanic. He lost it and beat up a helicopter with a wrench. As I was a Vet he shared with me that the hours he worked were off the charts. Catching cat naps here and there. Falling asleep tightening a bolt or some such thing. Always terrified he had do something wrong and put a crew at risk when they took off. Just high pressure. He said, "One day I just lost it." I was a combat Marine, 0351 or a glorified grunt. Everybody had their Nam. I pass no judgement or downplay his tour. He was good people. Damn we were young.
